A versatile sauce with a Mediterranean character that shines out through the jar.
APPEARANCE and COLOR: the dark orange color is due to the presence of basil, pine nuts and cheese, which tone down the bright red of the tomato pulp and the sun-dried tomatoes, pieces of which are perceptible in the sauce.
AROMA: intense blend of fresh basil and the stronger aroma of tomato.
FLAVOR: intensely aromatic, with the tasty blend of ingredients enhanced by our Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

A pleasantly delicate, exotic recipe

Walnut sauce was already known to the ancient Persians, and over the centuries its use spread to Oriental and Balkan cuisine. There are two stories of the arrival of the recipe in Liguria: according to the first, around 1500, at the time of the Maritime Republics, the recipe, if not the actual sauce, was brought by the Genoese across the sea; the second indicates that walnut sauce was invented in the Rapallo area to counter the bitter taste of the wild herbs used in filled pasta.
