Pan d'epices
Pain d’épices
This traditional dessert from ancient recipe, is perfect for Holidays with its spicy and aromatic taste

METHOD

Firstly, sieve the flours into a bowl with the baking powder, bicarbonate and spices.

Heat the milk in a small pan until it boils. In the meantime, pour the honey into an earthenware bowl.

Now pour the hot milk onto the honey and mix thoroughly.

Now add, firstly, the flours and then our Carli Pure Olive Oil. Mix quickly to avoid lumps, to obtain a homogeneous mix.

Cover a plumcake mould with greased oven paper, pour the mix in and oven bake at 170°C for about 40 minutes.

Check with a toothpick if fully baked. Remove from the oven and leave to cool.

Pain d’épices deserves very special treatment. In other words, serve it also with our Carli Marsala Superiore D.O.C., a strong sweet wine made up of a blend of select vintages. The warm colour and Mediterrean fragrances of this wine provide the perfect accompaniment for pain d’épices with its markedly aromatic personality.
